Job Summary

Assure adequate staffing and appropriate care levels for all patients during assigned shifts by forecasting needs, reassigning personnel, and assisting with patient care during crises. Administer institutional activities in the absence of managers by reviewing shift reports, conducting rounds, and coordinating staff/supplies for emergency procedures. Ensure 100% compliance with clinical objectives including HCAHPS, infection control, and staff training goals while providing required reports on patient needs, acuity, and compliance events. Assume the role of Incident Commander during emergencies and monitor staffing in non-clinical areas like facilities and security. Work evening, night, and weekend shifts at Northwestern Medical Center, requiring extensive standing, patient lifting, and exposure to blood-borne diseases.

Required Qualifications

  • Current RN VT License
  • Four years recent clinical experience
  • Minimum of two years supervisory experience
  • Minimum of three years staff experience
  • BLS certification
  • ACLS certification
  • NRP certification
  • Knowledge of principles of growth and development over the life span
  • Ability to assess and interpret data about the patient's status to identify age-specific needs for neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patient groups
  • Ability to assist with lifting and moving patients
  • Ability to handle emergency or crisis situations

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, Health Administration, Business Administration, or related field
  • PALS certification
