Job Summary
Maintain and review patient records, document test results, and communicate care plans including patient education materials. Respond to and triage phone calls, call in orders as ordered by physicians, and instruct patients regarding treatment or medication. Confers with physicians on message urgency and assesses orders for refills, prior authorizations, and other assigned duties. Document all patient care activities in the electronic medical record, generate ancillary requests, and update medicines as needed. Participate in performance improvement activities and assist with front and clinical areas during staff absences. Requires current BLS certification and relevant licensure; 40 weekly hours.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Completion of an accredited medical assisting program with one year of patient experience
- Certification through American Medical Technologist (AMT), American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), National Healthcareer Association (NHA), Medical Career Assessments (MCA), Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA), or National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)
- Current BLS certification
- Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification
- Graduation from a recognized Licensed Practical Nursing program
- Licensed as an LPN within the State of South Carolina or with a compact state license
- Current South Carolina LPN License or compact state license
- Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification
- Must be certified through American Medical Technologist (AMT), American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), National Healthcareer Association (NHA), Medical Career Assessments (MedCA), Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA), or National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)
- Current BLS required
- Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification is required
- Graduation from an accredited Practical Nurse program
- Licensed as an LPN within the state of South Carolina or a compact state
- Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification is required
- Must live in Charleston Region-2
