Job Summary
Act as the first line of support for the bedside nursing team when patient conditions are in jeopardy, leading initial assessments of critically ill patients and implementing early interventions to prevent cardiopulmonary arrest. Educate and guide the bedside team in evaluating unstable patients, directing care, and facilitating rapid transitions to higher levels of care. Closely monitor patients recently transferred from the ICU while utilizing electronic medical record data to identify at-risk patients based on deterioration indices and sepsis scores. Collect and maintain data on Rapid Response and Code episodes to drive process improvement and participate in regional debrief processes. Maintain a constant state of alertness while performing other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of accredited school of nursing or education equivalency for licensing
- Two years of registered nurse experience in critical care, emergency care or progressive care
- State of Work Location: Missouri
- Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association (AHA)
- Registered Nurse (RN) Issued by Compact State
- Advanced Life Support (ALS) - American Heart Association (AHA)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) - American Heart Association (AHA)
- Night Shift (United States of America)
- Constant use of speech to share information through oral communication
- Constant standing and walking
- Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs
- Frequent sitting, reaching and keyboard use/data entry
- Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors
- Frequent use of smell to detect/recognize odors
- Frequent use of hearing to receive oral communication, distinguish body sounds and/or hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc
- Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs
- Occasional lifting/moving of patients
- Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting, gripping and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements
- Occasional driving
- Rare crawling and running
