Job Summary
Provide direct nursing care for post-operative bariatric patients, including gastric bypass and sleeve gastrectomy, in accordance with established policies and protocols. Implement and monitor individualized care plans while assessing and coordinating discharge planning needs with the healthcare team. Serve as the primary coordinator of all disciplines to ensure well-coordinated patient care and communicate patient conditions as appropriate. Note and carry out physician and nursing orders. Currently licensed or eligible to be licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the Alabama Board of Nursing is required, along with BLS certification obtained within 30 days of hire. Full-time shifts include days (7a to 7p) and nights (7p to 7a) at UAB St. Vincent's East.
Required Qualifications
- Currently licensed or eligible to be licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the Alabama Board of Nursing
- Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing
- BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date
- American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted certification for BLS
