Job Summary
Provide direct nursing care for post-operative bariatric patients, including Gastric Bypass and Sleeve Gastrectomy, while implementing and monitoring individualized care plans. Coordinate patient discharge planning with the healthcare team and serve as the primary liaison for all disciplines. Assess patient conditions, communicate status updates, and carry out physician and nursing orders in accordance with established protocols. This 24-bed unit at UAB St. Vincent's East focuses on weight loss surgery recovery. Full-time day shifts run from 7a to 7p, with night shifts from 7p to 7a available.
Required Qualifications
- BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date
- Currently licensed or eligible to be licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the Alabama Board of Nursing
- Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing
- professional licensure at time of hire
