Job Summary
RN II delivers direct nursing care in the Oncology Care Unit (OCU) with a focus on adult acute care patients across diagnoses including oncology/hematology, post-cardiac catheterization, COPD, and ACS-related conditions. The role supports a 16-bed unit with a nurse-patient ratio that enables closer monitoring, requires Massachusetts RN licensure, and involves shift coverage including evenings and nights with weekend/holiday commitments. The position emphasizes adherence to hospital policies, procedures, and the Mass. Nurse Practice Act; focus areas include chemotherapy administration, telemetry/intermediate care experience, and collaboration within a multidisciplinary team. BSN is strongly preferred; candidates with an Associate’s degree may be considered and encouraged to pursue BSN within 1 year of hire. BLS is required; ACLS preferred. The department may require additional certifications relevant to patient care. About the affiliation with Lowell General Hospital and Tufts Medicine and the compensation framework including a pay range of $37.50–$47.41 per hour and a comprehensive benefits package.
Required Qualifications
- Massachusetts RN Licensure
- 12 Months - Less than 3 Years of RN Experience
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
- Department Specific: Certification(s) relevant to the department and the type of patient care being provided may be required
- BSN is strongly preferred
- Candidates with an Associate’s degree in nursing may be considered, and are encouraged to enroll in a BSN program within 1 year of hire
- A minimum of 1-2 years in telemetry or intermediate care setting is preferred
- ACLS preferred
