Job Summary
Assess and manage patient symptoms, particularly pain, while administering medications in an inpatient hospice setting. Update care plans, document all interventions, and collaborate closely with the interdisciplinary team including physicians, aides, social workers, and chaplains. Support and educate families on end-of-life expectations while ensuring patients remain comfortable and dignified. This full-time role involves 3-12 hour shifts from 7:00pm to 7:00am at our 12-bed facility in northeast Kansas. We offer a compassionate, home-like environment focused on quality of life rather than curative treatment, providing an on-site education center for professional development.
Required Qualifications
- Active, unrestricted RN license (Kansas)
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN)
- Ability to assess patients and manage symptoms
- Strong communication and documentation skills
- Current CPR/BLS certification
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
Desired Qualifications
- Hospice or palliative care experience
- At least 1 year of clinical nursing experience
- BSN degree
- Experience with electronic medical records (EMR)
- Hospice/Palliative Care certification (CHPN)
