RN Radiation Oncology / Per Diem

Job Summary
Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for oncology and hematology patients receiving chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and supportive treatments. Administer medications and infusions safely, manage intravenous access, and perform procedures in accordance with Institute and ASCO/ONS guidelines. Provide patient and family education on disease modalities and symptom management, while conducting telephone triage and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to optimize healthcare outcomes. Document care accurately, manage patient referrals for home care or hospice, and respond appropriately to emergency situations. Maintain BLS certification and support the DFCI Nursing Department's quality plan.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing as validated through the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing
- Baccalaureate degree in nursing
- Associate degree in nursing
- Minimum of 1-year recent experience as an RN
- RN - Registered Nurse
- BLS - Basic Life Support
- ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support
- Demonstrated ability to work as an effective member of an interdisciplinary team
- Demonstrated skills in critical thinking, problem solving, and ability to make independent decisions
- Ability to function in a busy work setting with patients with complex needs
- Good hearing and vision
- Ability to speak, read and write in English
- Ability to perform mathematical pharmaceutical calculations
- Demonstrates understanding of special needs and behaviors of age groups of the population served: young adult to geriatric
Desired Qualifications
- Baccalaureate degree in nursing strongly preferred
- If associate degree in nursing, must complete BSN degree within 4 years
- Ambulatory and/or oncology experience preferred
- Professional nursing certification preferred (OCN, BMTCN, CPHON, AOCNP, CRNI, RN-BC)
- IV skills strongly preferred
