Job Summary

Coordinate and direct the nursing care of all residents in accordance with current rules, regulations, and facility standards. Conduct daily rounds of the unit to ensure nursing personnel perform assignments per acceptable standards, monitor medication passes and treatment schedules, and review medication and treatment books for accurate documentation. Lead committee meetings for infection control, quality assurance, and interdisciplinary reviews while assisting in developing in-service training and orientation programs. Maintain stock levels of medications and supplies, ensure compliance with safety regulations and disaster preparedness drills, and participate in creating written plans of care for each resident. Identify problems and implement planned changes to improve nursing care on the unit.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid and current R.N. or L.P.N. License in the State of Florida
  • Ability to write, read, and speak the English language
  • One (1) year's experience as a supervisor in a hospital, long-term care facility, or other health related care facility
  • Knowledge of nursing and medical practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines that pertain to long term care
  • Leadership and supervisory ability
  • Willingness to work harmoniously with professional and no professional personnel
  • Ability to move intermittently throughout the workday
  • Ability to speak the English language in an understandable manner
  • Ability to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position
  • Ability to see and hear or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately to assure that the requirements of this position are fully met
  • Ability to function independently, have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with residents, personnel, and support agencies
  • Good general health and demonstration of emotional stability
  • Ability to relate to work with the ill, disabled, elderly, emotional upset, and at times, hostile people within the facility
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds
  • Freedom from communicable diseases
