Job Summary
Render first aid treatment, administer medications, and perform routine lab tests while monitoring students restricted to the infirmary. Cleanse wounds, operate emergency equipment, and assist physicians in treating serious accidents or illnesses according to physician instructions. Triage chief complaints, take vital signs, and maintain accurate health records in compliance with government directives. Participate in student employability programs, enforce the Zero Tolerance Policy, and provide consultation during an on-call rotation for urgent situations. Work as a PRN nurse with a wage of $45.00 an hour at the Joliet Job Corps Center in Joliet, IL.
Required Qualifications
- Active, unrestricted license in the state of Illinois as a registered nurse
- Experience with youth
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills
- Computer proficiency
- Valid driver's license
- Acceptable driving record
- Ability to work overtime when directed
- Availability for on-call rotation outside of regularly scheduled work hours
- Ability to provide consultation, guidance, and support for urgent situations
- Ability to support, promote, and enforce the Job Corps' Zero Tolerance Policy
- Ability to model appropriate behaviors and mentor students
- Ability to monitor positive and negative behaviors through interventions
- Ability to maintain accountability of students and property
- Ability to adhere to safety practices
- Ability to cultivate and maintain a climate free of harassment, intimidation, and disrespect
