Job Summary
Perform and document pre/post procedure assessments, evaluations, and education for patients in the PACU same-day surgery environment. Monitor patients to maintain a safe environment, optimize outcomes, and maximize available resources while responding to life-threatening situations using nursing standards and protocols. Handle critical and highly stressful situations with decisiveness, efficiency, and composure within a technically complex, fast-paced setting. Evaluate learning needs of patients and families to provide age, culture, and condition-appropriate education. Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited or state board of nursing approved Registered/Professional Nursing program if less than 3 years' experience
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing
- State licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer with card in-hand before start date
- BLS or CPR card must be good through sixty days of hire
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- PALS Certification
- 6 months RN experience
- or completion of the UCHealth Fellowship program
