Job Summary
Monitor patients' physiological status in the immediate perioperative environment, communicate with surgeons and anesthesiologists regarding patient condition, and intercede to maintain optimum homeostasis. Provide education for patients and families related to the peri-operative experience and home self-care, while adapting procedures to meet individual needs of pediatric through geriatric populations. Assess cardio-respiratory systems for changes, administer perioperative medications, and document vital signs and behavioral observations. Make independent nursing decisions regarding dysrhythmias and disease processes, notify physicians of abnormal results, and respond appropriately to emergency situations. Work M-F on 10-hour shifts with rotation for call/stand-by for weekdays and weekends required.
Required Qualifications
- Registered Nurse
- Ambulatory Surgery
- Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU)
- ICU
- Active WA State RN License or Active MultiState License (MSL)
- Approved 6-Hour Suicide Prevention Training Course Completion
- American Heart Association BLS
- ACLS & PALS within 90 days
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- BSN
- Two (2) years of recent experience in Acute Care, Ambulatory Surgery, PACU, or ICU
- Certification, ASPAN and or CAPA specialty
- Basic computer knowledge
- M-F, 10-hour shifts
- rotation for call/stand-by for weekdays and weekends
- Annual education requirements
- Annual Surgical Services Skills Lab Review and department in-services
- Maintains regulatory requirements
- Reports to work as scheduled: ready to receive assignment at the beginning of shift
- Minimal absenteeism
- Attends at least 75% of staff meetings
- Actively participates in the department's Continuous Quality Improvement (QCI) activities
- Continues ongoing cross-training to provide procedural sedation
- Meets physical demands of the job
- Ensures confidentiality of patient's records
Desired Qualifications
