Job Summary

Provide patient care in accordance with standards, policies, and practices of Enloe Medical Center. Prioritize patient needs, coordinate care, and collaborate with the patient care team to execute the medical plan of care. Demonstrate technical competence, professional clinical judgment, and effective communication with physicians, staff, patients, and the public while organizing work efficiently in a demanding environment. Maintain current California licensure, CPR, ACLS, and PALS certifications, with a minimum of 18 months in critical care and basic arrhythmia training. Work varied 10-hour shifts for 80 hours per pay period. Participate in unit-based QI task forces, preceptor programs, and continuing education.

Required Qualifications

  • 18 months current/recent critical care experience
  • Basic Arrhythmia or equivalent (within one year of hire)
  • Current licensure with the California Board of Registered Nursing
  • Current CPR certification
  • Current ACLS certification
  • PALS recognition within one year
  • Must demonstrate technical competence
  • Must demonstrate professional clinical judgment
  • Must demonstrate communication skills
  • Must demonstrate sensitivity for the patient and family in crisis
  • Must be able to interact professionally and effectively communicate with physicians, staff, patients and the public
  • Must have the ability to organize and prioritize work efficiently
  • Must have the ability to work in a demanding environment while remaining calm, efficient and focused
  • Must have the ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
  • Must have the ability and willingness to actively participate in continuing education programs
  • Must have the ability and willingness to actively participate in unit based QI task forces
  • Must have the ability and willingness to actively participate in preceptor programs
  • Must have the ability to perform as a preceptor in the training of students
  • Must have the ability to act as a department resource and a positive role model
  • Must have the ability to perform the essential functions of the position

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing or related field
  • Current experience in a Perianesthesia setting
  • Certified Peri-Anesthesia nurse (CPAN)
  • Certified Ambulatory Peri-Anesthesia (CAPA)
