Job Summary
Effectively use the nursing process to deliver patient care in the Pediatrics CVICU/PICU, assessing learning needs and implementing teaching strategies for patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams. Communicate, delegate, and manage nursing team resources while serving as a leader within the unit. Adapt behavior to the specific pediatric population, ensuring respect for privacy and clear communication of services and procedures. Maintain knowledge of federal, state, and local laws to ensure compliance with accreditation standards and regulatory requirements. Perform other related duties as required, including exposure to blood, body fluids, and hazardous medications in a patient care area.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Current registered nurse (RN) license in state of practice
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
- Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications
- Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Ability to perform heavy work: Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly
- Ability to work in an environment with exposure to blood, body fluid and tissue
- Ability to work in a patient care area where patients enter and works directly with patients
- Ability to work with specimens that could contain communicable diseases
- Ability to handle occupational risk for exposure to hazardous medications or hazardous waste
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in nursing
- Certification in clinical specialty area
