Job Summary

Provide professional nursing care to pediatric patients in a clinic setting by escorting patients to exam rooms, reviewing medical histories, assessing conditions, and documenting vital signs. Prepare patients for examinations and procedures while administering medications and injections as ordered. Assist providers with treatments, monitor patient responses to IV therapy, and support urgent situations that may arise. Administer medications and injections (IM, subcutaneous, and intradermal) as ordered. Perform IV therapy and monitor patient responses to treatment. Assist with laboratory and imaging procedures as needed. Respond to patient phone calls, triage concerns, coordinate with providers, and return calls within established timeframes. Document patient information accurately within the electronic health record (EHR). Assist with referrals, prior authorizations, and managed care requirements. Maintain exam rooms, equipment, supplies, and medication storage according to established standards. Support urgent patient situations that may arise within the office setting. Participate in patient education and follow-up communications regarding test results, appointments, and treatment plans. Adhere to infection prevention protocols, universal precautions, and Mercy policies.

Required Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Missouri (or compact state eligibility)
  • CPR Certification or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire
  • Strong clinical assessment and patient care skills
  • Ability to remain calm and respond effectively in urgent situations
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with patients, families, physicians, and coworkers
  • Ability to interpret and apply clinical policies and guidelines
  • Basic computer and electronic health record documentation skills

Desired Qualifications

  • Previous pediatric, urology, ambulatory clinic, or specialty nursing experience
  • Experience with patient triage and care coordination
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities in a fast-paced clinical environment
