Job Summary
Coordinate and direct nursing care for all residents, conducting daily unit rounds to verify adherence to facility standards and safety regulations. Monitor staff performance, review medication passes and treatment schedules, and maintain accurate documentation within the Electronic Chart System. Lead committee meetings, manage supply inventory, and develop in-service training programs while ensuring resident rights are protected. Identify care gaps and implement changes to improve unit operations, reporting staffing needs and problem areas to the Director of Nursing.
Required Qualifications
- Valid and current R.N. or L.P.N. License in the State of Florida
- Ability to write, read, and speak the English language
- Minimum of one (1) year's experience as a supervisor in a hospital, long-term care facility, or other health related care facility
- Knowledge of nursing and medical practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines that pertain to long term care
- Leadership and supervisory ability
- Willingness to work harmoniously with professional and no professional personnel
- Ability to move intermittently throughout the workday
- Ability to speak the English language in an understandable manner
- Ability to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position
- Ability to see and hear or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately to assure that the requirements of this position are fully met
- Independence, flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with residents, personnel, and support agencies
- Good general health and demonstration of emotional stability
- Ability to relate to work with the ill, disabled, elderly, emotional upset, and at times, hostile people within the facility
- Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds
- Freedom from communicable diseases
