Job Summary
Effectively uses the nursing process to deliver patient care in the PACU, assessing learning needs and implementing teaching strategies for patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams. Communicates, delegates, and manages nursing team resources while serving as a leader within the unit. Adapts behavior to specific patient populations, ensuring respect for privacy and clear communication regarding procedures. Remains knowledgeable on current federal, state, and local laws and accreditation standards to ensure compliance. Performs other related duties as required, including exposure to blood, body fluids, and hazardous medications.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Current registered nurse (RN) license in state of practice
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
- Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Ability to perform heavy work: Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly
- Ability to work in an area where patients enter; works directly with patients; and/or works with specimens that could contain communicable diseases
- Ability to handle occupational risk for exposure to blood, body fluid and tissue
- Ability to handle occupational risk for exposure to hazardous medications or hazardous waste
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in nursing
- Certification in clinical specialty area
