Job Summary
Assess, plan, and coordinate patient care from admission to discharge for post-surgical patients in the PACU, implementing critical pathways and adhering to OneCore Health standards. Provide care according to policy and procedure while managing equipment, medications, and anticipated complications. Recognize and respond to emergency situations using ACLS/PALS protocols to prevent adverse outcomes. Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes; provide verbal and written instructions to families; and place follow-up calls with recorded responses. Restock supplies, check drugs monthly, and rotate medications to maintain adequate levels. Perform nursing duties during procedures for pain management and adhere to safety requirements to ensure a safe environment. Communicate patient information to assure confidentiality and continuity of care. Requires current RN licensure, BCLS, and one year of PACU, Emergency, or ICU experience.
Required Qualifications
- Current Registered Nurse Licensure with the State
- BCLS
- Minimum of one-year experience in PACU, Emergency or ICU preferred
- Physical ability for long term standing, occasional sitting, crouching, kneeling, frequent walking, reaching with reaching above head and below waist
- Ability to read, write and speak English fluently
- Cognitive skills for math, reading, filing and sterile technique skills
- Communication skills to deal well with employees, patients, families and physicians
- Vision for near, mid-range, far and accommodation
- Hearing for low, medium, and high pitch
- Ability to lift 30 - 75 pounds
- Exposure to blood and body fluids (high)
- Contact with laser and chemicals
- Exposure to infectious disease
Desired Qualifications
- PALS and ACLS training within 6 months of hire
- Experience in Emergency or ICU
