Job Summary
Provides postoperative nursing care in the PACU, assessing and documenting the patient’s status, coordinating with the surgeon, physicians and anesthesia providers, and delivering care based on anesthesia type and procedure. Supervises Patient Care Technicians, CNAs, Medical Assistants, and LPNs as appropriate; delivers discharge instructions, medication reconciliation, and education to patients and caregivers; manages inventory and equipment to maintain availability in the postoperative area; ensures safety, privacy, and dignity, and communicates patient status to the care team. Emphasizes teamwork, problem solving, and positive facility image.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED certificate
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- RN with active license in appropriate state
- One (1) year experience in PACU or ICU
- CPR certification
