Job Summary
Provide direct patient care in outpatient substance use settings, including medication administration, venipuncture, and emergency response. Assess, plan, and educate patients and families while addressing psychosocial and cultural needs. Maintain accurate clinical documentation and participate in daily huddles and interdisciplinary treatment planning. Conduct infection control training and monitor lab results. For Medication Assisted Treatment programs, administer injectable medications, manage inventory, and perform observed urine analyses. Communicate effectively with providers regarding patient conditions and crisis states. Adhere to professional ethics and AltaPointe policy standards.

- current RN/LPN license to practice in the state of Alabama

- knowledge in substance use/addictions
- knowledge in medical care
- knowledge of psychiatrics

- knowledge of primary nursing care
- knowledge of psychiatric disorders in the adult population
- knowledge of substance use disorders in the adult population
- knowledge of medical illnesses in the adult population
- basic knowledge of medical terminology
- familiarity of psychopharmacology
- knowledge of the use of psychotropic medications
- knowledge of behavior management
- knowledge of crisis intervention
- knowledge of interventions common to acute psychotic patients
- knowledge of interventions common to patients with addictive disease
- knowledge of non-violent crisis intervention practice
- knowledge of educational methods appropriate to adults
- knowledge of cultural diversity
- knowledge of trauma informed care principles
- understanding behavioral, psychological, physical health and social effects of psychoactive drugs
- understanding of alcohol and tobacco on the patient and their significant others
- basic teaching and training skills
- knowledge of the nature of addictions as a primary illness
- knowledge of gender specific issues related to addiction
- knowledge of medical and pharmaceutical resources in the treatment of addictive diseases
- knowledge of other substance related disorders
- familiarity of synthetic drugs for recovery
