Job Summary
Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for stroke, post-neurosurgery, and post-orthopedic patients using the nursing process. Develop teaching strategies for patients and families based on their input and goals, documenting education in health records. Manage a patient-to-nurse ratio of 4-5:1 during day shifts and 5-6:1 on night shifts while prioritizing early mobility, pain control, and neuro-assessment. Maintain NIH Stroke Scale certification and provide quality care under Nurse Leader direction. Night shift coverage runs 7 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. with variable days and every other weekends.
Required Qualifications
- Associates in Nursing
- Bachelors in Nursing within 5 years
- Graduates from a non-accredited school of nursing must have at least one year of acute care experience or at least two years of experience in a licensed health care role
- Must have successfully passed the NCLEX licensure examination
- MI Registered Nurse (RN)
- AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) within 90 days
- NIH Stroke Certification - NIHSS National Institute of Health Stroke Scale within 90 days
