Job Summary

Lead the provision of patient care using the nursing process within the framework of the Nurse Practice Act and ANA Code for Nurses. Effectively delegate, direct, and assist licensed and ancillary team members while assuming accountability for quality patient outcomes. Communicate, delegate, and manage nursing team resources properly to serve as a leader on the interdisciplinary team. Assess learning needs and implement teaching strategies appropriate for diverse patient, family, and group needs. Use data to evaluate and promote change to achieve optimal outcomes while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local laws. Maintain involvement in activities aimed toward the achievement of unit and department strategic goals.

Required Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • Current registered nurse (RN) license in state of practice
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to be detailed oriented
  • Good time management skills and ability to be work in a fast paced environment and be self-directed
  • Good interpersonal, leadership, and delegation skills and ability to demonstrate good judgement and supervise or manage others
  • Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications
  • Ability to effectively delegate, direct, and assist licensed and ancillary team members
  • Ability to assume accountability for quality patient outcomes
  • Ability to exhibit sensitivity to cultural, ethnic and religious diversity in all interactions
  • Ability to maintain involvement in activities aimed toward the achievement of unit and the department's strategic goals and objectives
  • Ability to demonstrate professional responsibility and accountability for his/her own practice
  • Ability to support the company's philosophy of nursing
  • Ability to effectively use the nursing process in the delivery of patient care
  • Ability to assess learning needs and implement teaching strategies appropriate for the diverse needs of the patient, family, and other groups or disciplines
  • Ability to communicate, delegate, and manage nursing team resources (human and fiscal) properly
  • Ability to serve as a leader and partner on the interdisciplinary team
  • Ability to use data, information, and knowledge to evaluate and promote change in order to achieve optimal outcomes
  • Ability to embrace concepts and behaviors that enhance customer satisfaction and employee morale and improvement in the profession of nursing
  • Ability to adapt behavior to the specific patient population

  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge on current federal, state and local laws, accreditation standards or regulatory agency requirements that apply to the assigned area of responsibility

  • Ability to report patient/employee safety, patient privacy, and/or other compliance-related concerns
  • Ability to exert 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally
  • Ability to exert 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently
  • Ability to exert 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly
  • Ability to walk or stand to a significant degree
  • Ability to push and/or pull of arm or leg controls
  • Ability to work at a production rate pace entailing the constant pushing and/or pulling of materials
  • Ability to work in a patient care area
  • Ability to work in an area where patients enter
  • Ability to work directly with patients
  • Ability to work with specimens that could contain communicable diseases
  • Ability to handle exposure to blood, body fluid and tissue
  • Ability to handle exposure to hazardous medications or hazardous waste
  • Ability to reside in and work in Louisiana (not Colorado, California, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Vermont, Washington, or Washington D.C.)
  • Ability to work on-site

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing
  • Certification in clinical specialty area
