Job Summary
Design, coordinate, and deliver patient care for patients undergoing operative procedures as a scrub or circulating nurse. Administer medications, coordinate treatments, and ensure accurate sterile field control while recognizing critical deviations and documenting interventions. Maintain aseptic techniques, infection prevention standards, and HIPAA compliance throughout the OR environment. Collaborate with physicians, surgeons, and support staff to ensure safe, high-quality care and delegate activities as appropriate. Verify operative procedure sites with patient consent and time out procedures, exercising independent judgment to manage patient comfort and safety. Empathize with patients, provide education, and act as a role model for nursing students. Requires active California RN licensure, AHA BLS/ACLS, and one year of OR experience; ability to work variable shifts including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
Required Qualifications
- Active, current, and unencumbered Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of California
- Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing
- AHA Basic Life Support
- Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English
- Ability to work variable shifts including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to maintain flexibility and composure in a constantly changing environment
- Hospital Fire and Life Safety Card (Los Angeles City Employees only)
- AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support
- 1 year of operating room experience as Registered Nurse or completion of approved Perioperative Services training program
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing

- Certified Nurse Operating Room Certification (CNOR)
