Job Summary
Conduct physical examinations, establish medical histories, and evaluate donor suitability at the plasma donation center. Build rapport with donors, ensure confidentiality, and provide education regarding general health and counseling for unacceptable test results. Evaluate and manage donor injuries and adverse events, while administering the employee Hepatitis Vaccine program and assisting in staff training. Perform evaluations of illness history and medications to maintain donor suitability. This role involves exposure to biological fluids, electrical equipment, and extreme cold environments requiring protective gear. Candidates must work independently, perform tasks standing or sitting for extended periods, and possess strong communication skills. Required Qualifications
- Educated and currently certified/licensed in the state of employment and according to state requirements as either a Registered Nurse, Licensed Practical Nurse, or Licensed Vocation Nurse
- Current CPR certification
- Hearing acuity
- Color perception/discrimination
- Near vision and far vision correctable in one eye to 20/30 and to 20/100 in the other eye
- Ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand
- Ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences
- Ability to work independently and within guidance of oral or written instructions
- Ability to perform a wide range of tasks as dictated by variable demands and changing conditions
- Ability to relate sensitive information to diverse groups
- Ability to work in a plasma center
- Ability to handle exposure to biological fluids with potential exposure to infectious organisms
- Ability to handle exposure to electrical office and laboratory equipment
- Ability to handle exposure to extreme cold below 32 degrees F
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment such as protective eyewear, garments, gloves and cold-gear
