Job Summary

Administer chemotherapy, immunotherapy, antineoplastics agents, hazardous drugs, and targeted therapies in an outpatient infusion center while performing the nursing process using evidence-based practice. Provide relationship-based, patient-centered care that addresses biological, emotional, developmental, and psychosocial needs, including culturally aware education for patients and significant others. Coordinate interdisciplinary communication, complete timely documentation, and participate in staff meetings, in-services, and performance improvement activities. Serve as a clinical resource to nursing staff and medical leadership, and act as a preceptor for newly hired RN colleagues. Complete annual chemotherapy competence requirements and maintain specialty oncology certification through continuing education. Float between Cobb Hospital HODs as needed within a 35-mile radius.

Required Qualifications

  • RN license
  • Knowledge of hazardous drug therapies for treating malignant and nonmalignant conditions
  • Chemotherapy competence
  • Oncology Nursing Society certification or specialty oncology certification
  • 12 continuing education credits annually
  • Knowledge of the Georgia Professional Nurse Practice Act
  • Knowledge of the American Nurses Association Scope of Practice and Code of Ethics Standards
  • Ability to administer chemotherapy, immunotherapy, antineoplastics agents, hazardous drugs, and targeted therapies
  • Ability to provide safe patient care with an understanding and awareness of age-appropriate and culturally aware needs
  • Ability to address patient/family biological, emotional, developmental, psychosocial, and education needs
  • Ability to serve as a clinical resource to nursing staff, operational leadership, and medical staff
  • Ability to attend and participate in staff meetings, in-services, special projects and continued education
  • Ability to serve as a preceptor for newly hired RN colleagues
  • Ability to float between Cobb Hospital HOD's based on need
  • Willingness to travel locally (within 35 miles of Cobb Hospital)
