Job Summary
Administer chemotherapy, immunotherapy, antineoplastics agents, hazardous drugs, and targeted therapies in an outpatient infusion center while performing the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Provide relationship-based, patient-centered care that addresses biological, emotional, developmental, and psychosocial needs through culturally aware partnerships with patients and families. Coordinate interdisciplinary communication, complete timely documentation, and participate in performance improvement, research, and shared governance activities. Serve as a clinical resource to nursing staff, medical staff, and operational leadership, and act as a preceptor for newly hired RN colleagues. Complete annual chemotherapy competence requirements, mandatory education, and 12 continuing education credits annually. Float between Cobb Hospital HODs as needed within a 35-mile radius.
Required Qualifications
- RN license
- Knowledge of hazardous drug therapies for treating malignant and nonmalignant conditions
- Chemotherapy competence
- Oncology Nursing Society certification or specialty oncology certification
- 12 continuing education credits annually
- Understanding and awareness of age-appropriate and culturally aware needs
- Knowledge of the Georgia Professional Nurse Practice Act
- Implementation of the Scope of Practice and Code of Ethics Standards put forth by the American Nurses Association
- Ability to uphold the voice of the patient, system policies and procedures
- Ability to serve as a preceptor for newly hired RN colleagues
- Ability to float between Cobb Hospital HOD's based on need
- All sites within 35 miles of Cobb Hospital
