Job Summary
Prepare equipment and assist the physician during physical exams, medical procedures, and simulations. Evaluate and modify healthcare plans for Radiation Oncology patients while serving as a professional liaison between patients and the healthcare team. Assist with initial consultations, weekly status checks, routine follow-ups, and emergency visits. Follow up on diagnostic studies, obtain proper documentation, and notify physicians and the chart of results. Manage patient care using the nursing process, ensure appropriate consents, and provide patient education and procedural instructions. Document current and new medications while maintaining open communication with the front desk, Infusion Team, Pharmacy, Laboratory, and therapists.

- ability to perform the following: Prepares equipment and assists Physician during physical exams and medical procedures i.e. HDR, gynecological, ENT, catherizations for simulations and CT scans etc.
- ability to perform the following: Assists physician with all aspects of the patient's initial consultation as well as weekly status checks, routine follow-up examinations, and any emergency visits that are needed.
- ability to perform the following: Follows up on all diagnostic studies that are ordered including proper documentation and obtaining physician signature on test result.
- ability to perform the following: Responsible for acquiring test results and notifying said results on all interim reports to the physician and then to the chart.
- ability to perform the following: Manages and coordinates the care of patients in a defined care delivery model using the nursing process, which includes assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
- ability to perform the following: Ensures appropriate patient consents and authorizations are obtained for medical treatment.
- ability to perform the following: Provides patient education, procedural instructions, and reinforces physician instructions in person and through telephone contact.
- ability to perform the following: Documentation of medications the patient is currently taking, and document any new medications prescribed by our physicians while under our care.
- ability to perform the following: Maintains open communication with front desk, Infusion Team, Pharmacy, Laboratory, Chief Therapist and therapists as it applies to patient add ons, on-treatment breaks, and changes in treatments.
