Job Summary
Lead the ICU nursing team during night shifts by effectively delegating, directing, and assisting licensed and ancillary staff while using the nursing process to deliver patient care. Manage human and fiscal resources, assess learning needs for patients and families, and communicate clearly with interdisciplinary partners to achieve optimal outcomes. Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local laws and accreditation standards while demonstrating sensitivity to cultural diversity. Requires a current RN license, BLS certification, and proficiency in computer applications. Full-time night shift position at Ochsner Health in Kenner.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Current registered nurse (RN) license in state of practice
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
- Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications
- Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Must be able to lift 50 to 100 pounds occasionally, 25 to 50 pounds frequently, or 10 to 20 pounds constantly
- Must be able to work in an area where patients enter and works directly with patients
- Must be able to work with specimens that could contain communicable diseases
- Must be able to handle exposure to blood, body fluid and tissue
- Must be able to handle exposure to hazardous medications or hazardous waste
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in nursing
- Certification in clinical specialty area
