Job Summary

Lead the provision of patient care using the nursing process within the Nurse Practice Act, ANA Code for Nurses, and Scope & Standards of Practice. Effectively delegate, direct, and assist licensed and ancillary team members while assuming accountability for quality patient outcomes. Communicate, manage nursing team resources, and serve as a leader and partner on the interdisciplinary team. Assess learning needs, implement teaching strategies for diverse patient and family groups, and adapt behavior to specific patient populations including privacy and communication style. Use data to evaluate and promote change for optimal outcomes while maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local laws. Perform other related duties as required, including handling exposure to blood, body fluids, and hazardous medications in a patient care area.

Required Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • 2 years of relevant and recent nursing experience in assigned unit(s)
  • Current registered nurse (RN) license in state of practice
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
  • Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly and professionally
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to be adaptable and flexible to change
  • Ability to demonstrate good judgement
  • Must be able to lift 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly
  • Must be able to work in an area where patients enter
  • Must be able to work directly with patients
  • Must be able to work with specimens that could contain communicable diseases
  • Must be able to work with hazardous medications or hazardous waste

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing
  • Certification in clinical specialty area
