Job Summary
Provide patient care in the Med-Surg/Surgical Observation Unit using the nursing process to evaluate effectiveness and coordinate care across departments. Maintain patient rights and confidentiality while performing clinical assessments, care planning, vital signs monitoring, IV therapy, medication administration, pain management, wound care, and telemetry monitoring. Administer preoperative and postoperative care, ensure infection control, and document in the EHR/EMR. Requires current RN license, BLS certification, and ability to lift 50 lbs with prolonged standing. Join a collaborative team at Mercy where your voice matters.
Required Qualifications
- Graduated from a school of nursing (Associate's Degree, Diploma, or BSN)
- Is personally responsible for obtaining, and maintaining, a current RN license within the hiring state and/or compact licensure in which nursing duties are performed and must meet all state board of nursing requirements
- Position requires the ability to push, pull, and/or lift 50 lbs on a regular basis
- Position requires prolonged standing and walking during each shift
- Position requires the ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties
Desired Qualifications
- +1 year RN
- Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association or successful completion of course within 30 days of hire
- OCN (Oncology Certified Nurse)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
