RN-MedSurg /Surgical Observation Unit, Full Time, Days

Job Summary
Utilize the nursing process to provide patient care for assigned patients in the Med-Surg or Surgical Observation Unit. Maintain professional accountability for care provision, coordinate patient care with other departments, and evaluate the effectiveness of care provided by direct care givers. Perform clinical duties consistent with Mercy Service Standards, including vital signs monitoring, IV therapy, medication administration, pain management, wound care, and telemetry monitoring. Document all activities in the EHR/EMR while ensuring infection control and patient safety. Maintain patient rights and confidentiality of information. Obtain and maintain a current RN license and required certifications such as BLS within the department's timeframe.
Required Qualifications
- Graduated from a school of nursing (Associate's Degree, Diploma, or BSN)
- Is personally responsible for obtaining, and maintaining, a current RN license within the hiring state and/or compact licensure in which nursing duties are performed and must meet all state board of nursing requirements
- Position requires the ability to push, pull, and/or lift 50 lbs on a regular basis
- Position requires prolonged standing and walking during each shift
- Position requires the ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties
Desired Qualifications
- +1 year RN
- Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association or successful completion of course within 30 days of hire
- OCN (Oncology Certified Nurse)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
