RN - Medical Oncology Flagstaff

Job Summary
Conduct initial patient assessments, develop treatment plans, and deliver care for adult and geriatric oncology patients while documenting variances in condition. Complete nursing assessments for new patients, including chart preparation, EMR entry, and medication verification, then interpret laboratory data to communicate results to physicians. Coordinate Brachy Therapy procedures with physicians and OR scheduling, provide pre- and post-op teaching, and maintain open interactions with internal departments, outside agencies, and families. Participate in Cancer Center community health screenings and events, ensuring all safety-related incidents are reported through the Midas/RDE tool and compliance with state/federal regulations. Requires an active Arizona RN license, BLS, and ACLS certification, with a preference for BSN and OCN/AOCN credentials. On-call rotation may apply depending on the nursing unit.
Required Qualifications
- Active, unrestricted, Arizona RN License or valid, participating compact license
- BLS (American Heart Association)
- ACLS
- Minimum 1 year experience in the field of oncology
- 12 cancer-related continuing education nursing contact hours per calendar year
- Competence in using computers and basic software programs
- Being 'on call'
Desired Qualifications
- BSN degree (for RNs hired before 7/1/2016)
- Medical Oncology: OCN, AOCN or AOCNS certification
- Breast Oncology: CBCN certification
- Radiation Oncology: ONS/ONCC Radiation Therapy Certificate
- Minimum 3 years of acute care nursing experience
Additional Requirements
- Must graduate from a BSN program within 6 years of hire if hired on or after 7/1/2016
- Must be able to be on call and physically show up as needed
