Job Summary
Provide direct patient care in the PPRH Emergency Room, prioritizing care for a broad range of populations while maintaining department throughput and efficiency. Plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans based on assessments to optimize outcomes, and monitor, record, and communicate patient conditions to the multidisciplinary team. Effectively delegate care to ancillary personnel and may precept student nurses or new hires. Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. This full-time, on-site role includes nights shifts and requires 6 months of nursing experience.
Required Qualifications
- State licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer with card in-hand before start date
- Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course OR PALS Certification within 6 months of hire
- Trauma Nurse Core Course OR Advanced Trauma Care for Nurses within 1 year of hire
- 6 months of nursing (RN) experience
- Graduate of an accredited or state board of nursing approved Registered/Professional Nursing program if less than 3 years' experience
- Critical thinking skills
- Decisive judgement
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Direct patient care at a proficient level
- Care for a broad range of patient populations and conditions
- Prioritize care in a fast-paced clinical Emergency Department environment
- Delivery of high-quality, safe patient care
- Focus on department throughput and efficiency
- Plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans based on patient assessment
- Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition
- Collaborate across disciplines to coordinate patient care
- Coordinate patient transfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs
- Effectively delegate patient care to ancillary personnel
- Precept student nurses and new hires
- This position is an onsite role
