RN Med Surg Ortho

Direct patient care as an RN in Med Surg Ortho. Assess plans and evaluate patient care needs; carry out physician orders; administer prescribed medications, change dressings, clean wounds, and monitor vital signs. Serve as primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care. Instruct and educate patients and families. Provide age- and culturally appropriate care. When acting in charge nurse role, make staff assignments based on patient need, acuity, and staff skill. Maintain a safe therapeutic environment and participate in performance improvement activities.
