Job Summary
Provide patient care for adult medical patients with diagnoses including small bowel obstructions, respiratory infections, cellulitis, diverticulitis, and pneumonia on the Med Surg 5W unit. Utilize the nursing process to maintain professional accountability, evaluate care effectiveness, and coordinate patient care with other departments while ensuring patient rights and confidentiality. Perform duties consistent with Mercy service standards, including pushing, pulling, and lifting up to 50 lbs regularly, with prolonged standing and walking throughout the night shift from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM. Full-time 36-hour week; BLS certification required within 30 days of hire.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with one of the following: Associate Degree in Nursing, Nursing Diploma, or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- Must hold and maintain a current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Missouri or possess compact licensure, in accordance with state board of nursing regulations
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association, or completion within 30 days of hire
- Ability to push, pull, and lift up to 50 lbs regularly
- Ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat as needed to perform nursing duties
- Night Shift | 7:00PM-7:30AM
- Full-Time | 36 hours/week
Desired Qualifications
- BSN preferred
- Additional state licensure or specialty certifications preferred
- Prior experience in specialty area or similar clinical setting
- Previous hospital experience is preferred and may be required depending on the unit
