Job Summary
Utilize the nursing process to provide patient care for assigned adult medical patients, including those with small bowel obstructions, respiratory infections, and pneumonia. Maintain professional accountability for care provision, evaluate the effectiveness of care by other direct care givers, and coordinate patient care with other departments. Uphold patient rights and confidentiality while performing duties consistent with Mercy Service Standards. This night shift role (7:00 PM–7:30 AM) covers 36 hours per week at Mercy Hospital South. Gain experience in complex care planning and multidisciplinary teamwork on a unit offering strong opportunities to develop core clinical skills.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with an Associate Degree in Nursing
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a Nursing Diploma
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Missouri
- Compact licensure in accordance with state board of nursing regulations
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association
- Completion of BLS certification within 30 days of hire
- Ability to push, pull, and lift up to 50 lbs regularly
- Ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat as needed to perform nursing duties
