Job Summary
Manages a defined nursing unit within Adventist Health's hospital, supervising and directing nursing and ancillary staff to deliver safe, patient-centered care. Maintains a highly-visible unit presence, leads daily activities, coordinates with physicians and other health team members, and ensures efficient clinical operations to achieve high patient/family/staff satisfaction. Builds a high-performing clinical work team, recruits and retains skilled staff, and establishes standards of care for professional nursing practice. Conducts daily physician rounds, coordinates care plans, monitors outcomes through audits and data, analyzes issues, and initiates plans to improve patient safety, quality of care, and regulatory compliance. Oversees staffing, scheduling, overtime authorization, and throughput (discharge planning, bed management) to ensure appropriate care and timely admissions/transfers. Requires RN licensure in state of practice; Bachelor's degree required (Master's preferred); leadership experience and acute care nursing experience preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in nursing or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Required
- Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state of practice: Required
- Master's Degree: Preferred
- Five years' technical experience: Preferred
- One year's leadership experience: Preferred
- Two years' experience of acute care nursing in hospital setting: Preferred
Desired Qualifications
- Master's Degree: Preferred
- National specialty certification in area of expertise or in nursing administration: Preferred
- Five years' technical experience: Preferred
- One year's leadership experience: Preferred
- Two years' experience of acute care nursing in hospital setting: Preferred
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy: Preferred
