Job Summary
Provide unit-based leadership in labor and delivery and postpartum, supervising nursing and ancillary personnel to ensure cost-effective, safe patient care and high satisfaction. Initiate and coordinate team conferences to revise care plans, conduct patient rounds, and solicit feedback on quality services. Manage staffing requirements based on patient acuity, assign personnel, arrange relief for breaks, and evaluate performance through coaching and disciplinary actions. Recommend policy changes, participate in Performance Improvement Teams, and ensure compliance with Joint Commission safety goals. Maintain department equipment and cleanliness while keeping staffing costs within budget.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in nursing or equivalent combination of education/related experience
- Supervisory experience or demonstrated supervisory skills
- Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state of practice
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy
- AHA-ACLS or ARC-ALS
- AHA-NRP or ARC-NALS
- Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM)
- All required vaccinations as a condition of employment
- Access to and understanding of E-Verify Participation and Right to Work notices
Desired Qualifications
- Master's Degree
- Five years' technical experience
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy
- Clinical specialty and/or nursing administration certification
