Provide unit-based leadership by supervising and directing nursing and ancillary personnel while ensuring cost-effective, high-quality patient care and safety. Initiate and coordinate team conferences to revise care plans, make rounds to assess patient needs, and solicit feedback to develop strategies that improve customer satisfaction. Manage staffing requirements based on patient acuity, assign personnel to specific patients, and coach or discipline staff as needed. Ensure compliance with Patient Safety Goals by participating in Performance Improvement Teams and facilitating data collection to improve care processes. Maintain department equipment, ensure cleanliness, and keep staffing costs within budget while minimizing overtime.
