Job Summary

Assess patient needs, implement teaching strategies for diverse groups, and manage nursing team resources within the perinatal unit. Adapt communication styles to specific patient populations, delegate tasks effectively, and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws. Maintain involvement in unit strategic goals while demonstrating professional accountability for quality outcomes. This 12-week assignment requires a current RN license with one year of experience and BLS/NRP certifications. The role involves heavy physical demands and exposure to blood and body fluids. Ochsner LSU Health System of North Louisiana serves over 140,000 patients across North Louisiana, including a newly renovated facility with women's and children's services in Shreveport and a Level III Trauma Center in Monroe.

Required Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • 1 year of experience as a Registered Nurse
  • Current RN License in the state of practice
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
  • Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
  • Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) certification (within 30 days of hire)
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally
  • Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications
  • Demonstrated good judgement
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Must be able to lift 50 to 100 pounds occasionally, 25 to 50 pounds frequently, and 10 to 20 pounds constantly
  • Reside in an area eligible for remote work (not in Colorado, California, Hawaii, Illinois, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Vermont, Washington, Washington D.C.)
