Job Summary
Lead patient care using the nursing process within the Nurse Practice Act framework. Assess learning needs, implement teaching strategies for patients and families, and communicate, delegate, and manage nursing team resources effectively. Serve as a leader and partner on the interdisciplinary team while adapting behavior to specific patient populations and maintaining cultural sensitivity. Evaluate data to promote change and achieve optimal outcomes, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local laws. Perform related duties as required, including exposure to blood, body fluids, and hazardous medications in a patient care area.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Current registered nurse (RN) license in state of practice
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
- Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications
- Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily
- Heavy Work - Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly
- Duties performed routinely require exposure to blood, body fluid and tissue
- Occupational risk for exposure to all communicable diseases
- Occupational risk for exposure to hazardous medications or hazardous waste
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in nursing
- Certification in clinical specialty area
