Job Summary
Clinical Staff Nurse (RN) in ICU delivers 12-hour, patient/family-centered care using the Watson Model of Care for a defined patient population. Responsibilities include nursing assessment, planning, directing and coordinating care; prioritizing patient needs; applying current literature and critical thinking to clinical decisions; ensuring accurate documentation (IPOC) and SBAR handoffs; coordinating interdisciplinary discharge planning; supporting patient satisfaction goals; and maintaining professional standards and regulatory compliance. Requires active participation in MLK Community Hospital’s mission and quality/performance improvement activities; responsibilities extend to liaison with Care Managers and nursing personnel to optimize patient outcomes.
Required Qualifications
- Associates Degree in Nursing/equivalent or higher level of nursing degree required
- BSN preferred
- Minimum of one (1) year of clinical nursing experience in Critical Care nursing
- Current California Nursing license
- Certification in Critical Care Nursing preferred
- Bilingual skills preferred (Spanish)
- Basic computer skills
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Providers from the American Heart Association
- Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) from the American Heart Association
- Electronic Medical Record experience preferred
- Completion of Critical Care Course preferred
