Job Summary
Provide skilled professional nursing care to assigned terminally ill patients in their place of residence as prescribed by physicians and in compliance with nursing standards. Comply with accepted professional standards, understand hospice philosophy, and manage pain while utilizing excellent observation and communication skills. Document care timely within the electronic medical record and collaborate within an interdisciplinary team. Requires current licensure, CPR certification, and ability to lift 50 lbs with prolonged standing. Required Qualifications
- Graduation from an approved school of nursing
- Current licensure by the State Board of Nursing in the applicable state of practice
- Must be a licensed driver
- CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation)
- Position requires the ability to push, pull, and/or lift 50 lbs. on a regular basis
- Position requires prolonged standing and walking during each shift
- Position requires the ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties
Desired Qualifications
- Recent hospice or long-term care experience
- Experience with issues related to death/dying and bereavement
- One-year general nursing experience preferred
- Complies with accepted professional standards and practice
- Understands Hospice philosophy; principles related to death and dying and pain management
- Has excellent observation, good nursing assessment and communication skills
- Excellent computer skills with the ability to provide good documentation within an electronic medical record and submits in a timely manner
- Is self-directed with the ability to work with little supervision
- Flexible and cooperative in fulfilling role obligation and has ability to work within an interdisciplinary team
