Job Summary

Assess patient learning needs and implement teaching strategies for diverse patient, family, and group requirements. Effectively delegate, direct, and assist licensed and ancillary team members while managing nursing resources on an interdisciplinary team. Utilize the nursing process to evaluate and promote change for optimal outcomes, adapting communication styles to specific patient populations and respecting privacy. Maintain knowledge of federal, state, and local laws to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and safety protocols. Work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision, handling exposure to blood, body fluids, and hazardous medications as required.

Required Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • Current registered nurse (RN) license in state of practice
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work with and maintain confidential information
  • Ability to effectively delegate, direct and assist licensed and ancillary team members
  • Ability to assume accountability for quality patient outcomes
  • Ability to exhibit sensitivity to cultural, ethnic and religious diversity in all interactions
  • Ability to demonstrate professional responsibility and accountability for his/her own practice
  • Ability to remain knowledgeable on current federal, state and local laws, accreditation standards or regulatory agency requirements
  • Ability to ensure compliance with all such laws, regulations and standards
  • Ability to immediately report any known or suspected unethical or questionable behaviors or conduct
  • Ability to report patient/employee safety, patient privacy, and/or other compliance-related concerns
  • Ability to exert 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally
  • Ability to exert 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently
  • Ability to exert 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly
  • Ability to move objects
  • Ability to work in a patient care area
  • Ability to work in an area where patients enter
  • Ability to work directly with patients
  • Ability to work with specimens that could contain diseases
  • Ability to handle exposure to blood, body fluid and tissue
  • Ability to handle exposure to all communicable diseases
  • Ability to handle exposure to hazardous medications or hazardous waste
  • Ability to work in a healthcare setting
  • Ability to adapt behavior to the specific patient population
  • Ability to respect for privacy
  • Ability to adapt explanation of services or procedures to be performed
  • Ability to request permissions
