Job Summary
Conduct on-site surveys of Medicare-Medicaid certified health care facilities to determine compliance with Federal regulations, including re-certification, comparative, complaint investigation, and revisits. Evaluate facility systems from quality of care to consumer rights and physical plant through off-site preparation, tours, record reviews, and interviews of staff and families. Communicate non-compliance issues with key personnel and determine if plans of correction are acceptable, followed by monitoring visits to verify implementation. Serve as a team member or leader for long-term care, surgical centers, and psychiatric facilities nationwide while traveling up to 75% of the time. Maintain current RN licensure and apply approved survey protocols to assess care consistency with Federal requirements.
Required Qualifications
- CMS's Long-Term Care Basic Training
- SMQT certification
- Associate or Bachelor's degree in nursing
- Successfully completed CMS's Long-Term Care Basic Training and passed the Surveyor Minimum Qualifications Test (SMQT)
- At least two (2) years of recent experience working as a surveyor accrediting or certifying facilities that serve the residents of long-term care facilities
- Current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN)
- Independent decision-making skills to direct and effectively manage the survey process
- Ability to set priorities independently and collectively in performing survey tasks
- Ability to openly discuss conflicts/controversy, and to seek assistance when appropriate to make decisions and resolve conflicts
- Ability to travel up to 75% of the time on a regular basis
