Job Summary
Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate direct patient care for all age groups in a fast-paced intermediate unit serving cardiac, acute respiratory, and septic patients. Monitor and coordinate care activities with ancillary departments to optimize patient comfort, functioning within established nursing practice guidelines and Mercy Service Standards. Manage patients too sick for the floor but not yet ICU level, requiring strong assessment skills and teamwork in a setting combining ED and critical care aspects. Perform duties consistent with state Nurse Practice Act and professional ethics.
Required Qualifications
- Graduated from a school of nursing (Associate's Degree, Diploma, or BSN)
- Is personally responsible for obtaining, and maintaining, a current RN license within the hiring state and/or compact licensure in which nursing duties are performed and must meet all state board of nursing requirements
- Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association or successful completion of course within 30 days of hire
