Job Summary
Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate direct patient care for cardiac and acute respiratory patients in the Progressive Care Unit. Monitor and coordinate care with ancillary departments to optimize patient comfort, managing cases ranging from cardiac distress to sepsis without ventilator support. Perform duties consistent with nursing practice guidelines, state laws, and Mercy Service Standards while building strong assessment and teamwork skills. This intermediate unit serves as a step-down from ICU but above med-surg, combining ED and critical care aspects in a fast-paced environment.
Required Qualifications
- Graduated from a school of nursing (Associate's Degree, Diploma, or BSN)
- Is personally responsible for obtaining, and maintaining, a current RN license within the hiring state and/or compact licensure in which nursing duties are performed and must meet all state board of nursing requirements
- Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association or successful completion of course within 30 days of hire
- Requires and builds strong assessment skills
