Job Summary
Utilize the nursing process to provide patient care while maintaining professional accountability for assigned patients. Coordinate patient care with other departments, evaluate the effectiveness of care provided by direct caregivers, and uphold patient rights and confidentiality. Perform duties consistent with Mercy Service Standards across Behavioral Health, Emergency Department, Intensive Care Unit, Medical-Surgical, and Women's Health departments at multiple Mercy locations. This flexible position requires a minimum of 12 hours every 90 days, with shifts ranging from 4 to 12 hours and variable incentives. Candidates must hold a current RN license, possess one to two years of recent bed-side experience depending on specialty, and maintain BLS certification.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited registered professional nursing program
- Current RN license within the hiring state and/or compact licensure
- Meeting all state board of nursing requirements
- One year of recent bed-side RN experience to work Med Surg
- Two years of recent specialty specific bed-side RN experience for ED, ICU, Behavioral Health, and Women's Health specialties
- BLS certification for Med Surg, Behavioral Health, Women's Health (L&D, NICU, M&B), and Critical Care
- BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications for Emergency Department
- Ability to push, pull, and/or lift 50 pounds on a regular basis
- Ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties
- Availability for various shifts including day or night
- Responsibility for scheduling a minimum number of hours
- Availability on short notice
- Flexibility and willingness to be subject to last minute shift cancellation
- Understanding that the Gig Nursing Program does not offer guaranteed shift hours
