Job Summary
Utilize the nursing process to provide patient care across Behavioral Health, Emergency Department, Intensive Care Unit, Medical-Surgical, and Women's Health units at Mercy Jefferson and surrounding facilities. Maintain professional accountability for assigned patients, coordinate care with other departments, and uphold patient rights and confidentiality. Participate in a flexible Gig Nursing Program with variable shifts ranging from 4 to 12 hours, including day or night options, subject to last-minute cancellations. Earn $40/hour plus variable shift incentives while meeting a minimum of 12 hours every 90 days. Requires current RN licensure, one year of recent bed-side Med Surg experience (or two years for specialty units), and relevant certifications such as BLS, ACLS, and PALS.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited registered professional nursing program
- Is personally responsible for obtaining, and maintaining, a current RN license within the hiring state and/or compact licensure in which nursing duties are performed and must meet all state board of nursing requirements
- One year of recent bed-side RN experience to work Med Surg
- For all other specialties (ED, ICU, etc.) a minimum of two years of recent specialty specific bed-side RN experience
- For Med Surg, Behavioral Health and Women's Health (L&D, NICU, M&B) - BLS
- For Critical Care (CC) - BLS, ACLS
- For Emergency Department (ED) - BLS, ACLS, & PALS
- Position requires individuals to push, pull, and/or lift 50 pounds on a regular basis
- Position requires prolonged standing and walking each shift
- Position requires the ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties
- Participation in the Gig Nursing Program requires being responsible for scheduling a minimum number of hours
- Participation in the Gig Nursing Program requires being available on short notice
- Participation in the Gig Nursing Program requires being flexible
- Participation in the Gig Nursing Program requires being subject to last minute shift cancellation
- No weekend, holiday, or shift requirement
