Job Summary
Utilize the nursing process to provide patient care for assigned patients on the General Surgery Medical-Surgical inpatient unit. Maintain professional accountability for care provision, evaluate the effectiveness of other direct care givers, and coordinate care with other departments while ensuring patient rights and confidentiality. Perform duties consistent with Mercy service standards, including physical tasks such as lifting up to 50 lbs and prolonged standing. This night shift role (7:00 PM–7:30 AM) offers a sign-on bonus of up to $10,000 for experienced nurses or $5,000 for new graduates.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with one of the following: Associate Degree in Nursing, Nursing Diploma, or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Missouri or possess compact licensure, in accordance with state board of nursing regulations
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association, or completion within 30 days of hire
- Ability to push, pull, and lift up to 50 lbs regularly
- Ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat as needed to perform nursing duties
Desired Qualifications
- Previous hospital experience
- BSN
- Additional state licensure or specialty certifications
- Prior experience in specialty area or similar clinical setting
